Josep Bibiloni, President of the Associacio Vi Primitiu Pollenca led last week’s presentation of the 2018 Fira del Vi, which will be held on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd April at its usual location, the Claustre. This year will be the 15th edition of the fair and, Bibiloni noted, there have been a fair few changes in both quality and image of Mallorca wines. So, for this year’s fair, the space will be have a more commercial and functional feel, while the backdrop of the beautiful Claustre building will do its part too.
At this edition of the fira, there will be 39 wineries, with are two new exhibitors; Virrei of Cala Pi and Can Xanet of Pollensa.
Mayor Miquel Àngel March congratulated the local wine association for the 15th anniversary and for having created a reference in the world of wine in the town. The fair is an economic and cultural asset for Pollensa, a real bonus that can’t be ignored. He added that this the wine fair has become an “essential meeting for professionals and the general public who have an interest in wine…” and with each fair, there is, “more quality, more interest and more visitors.”
Dolors Domínguez, president of the Association of Traders of Pollensa, introduced a new draw where customers shopping in one of the association’s 70 stores will have the chance to draw tickets for the event when they make their purchase.
The Fira del Vi will open on the Saturday at 10am and close at 8:30pm (one hour before the closing of the box office). On the Sunday it will open from 10am to 2pm (one hour before the box office closes). Entrance is €12, of which €4 will be credit to buy wine at the fair. In the bag there is a tasting glass, information booklet and pen for your wine tasting notes.
