The ‘Patrona Major’ of the fishermen of Puerto Pollensa, the Virgen del Carmen, was celebrated on Sunday (15th). The council and the parish moved the procession to coincide with a Sunday so that the fishermen would not lose a day’s work. After the solemn service, celebrated at 7:00 pm by the bishop of Mallorca, Sebastià Taltavull, the images of Sant Pere, carried by members of the fishermen’s fraternity, and that of the Mare de Déu, left the church to parade in the square and to the pier. The two icons were then placed on different boats and the second part of the religious procession, the flotilla, began. After this part the figures returned to the Church.

The fiery end to the fiesta was as stunning as ever, with the carefully choreographed correfoc providing an incredible show. This year, the grand finale of firecrackers ran alongside the newly pedestrianized frontline and was followed swiftly with the jaw-dropping firework display on the beach, some fireworks were on the water.
